Celebrating the Kwinana Recquatic's Thriving Suburbs Grant

Published Fri 06 Dec 2024

LIWA Aquatics is proud to extend congratulations to the City of Kwinana and the Kwinana Recquatic team for their outstanding achievement in securing over $17 million in Federal Government funding for significant upgrades to the Kwinana Recquatic Centre.

This remarkable funding, including $15 million from the Thriving Suburbs Grant, will enable the transformation of the already multi-award winning but aging Recquatic Centre into a state-of-the-art, modern, and accessible community hub. With a total redevelopment budget now standing at $36.9 million—boosted by the grant and $21.9 million allocated in the City’s Long-Term Financial Plan—this project promises to greatly enhance the quality of life for Kwinana residents.

The redevelopment includes expanded aquatic facilities with a larger pool area featuring learn-to-swim facilities, hydrotherapy options, a family leisure pool with interactive water play features, and a dedicated toddler and family area.

These improvements reflect the City's commitment to meeting the needs of its rapidly growing community, providing inclusive and versatile spaces that promote health, fitness, and connection.

As Mayor Peter Feasey aptly stated, this grant represents "the most significant investment in infrastructure in the City of Kwinana to date," underscoring the transformative impact it will have on the lives of residents.

At LIWA Aquatics, we celebrate this milestone for the Kwinana community and applaud the City of Kwinana and the Kwinana Recquatic team for their dedication to creating a thriving, connected, and vibrant environment. We look forward to seeing the results of this ambitious project and the positive ripple effect it will have across the region.
