History
It all began back in 1969 when it was originally called the "Swimming Pool Managers Association of WA Inc."
From approximately 1957 - 1967 the Local Authorities Swimming Pool Conferences were held annually in WA and from this a steering committee was developed. On the 18 July 1969 a constitution was adopted and the Association was formalised.
Since then the Institute has gone through a number of name changes:
- Swimming Pool Managers Association of WA Inc (1969)
- Australian Institute of of Pool Management Inc
- Australian Institute of Aquatics and Recreation Facility Management Inc
- Institute of Aquatics and Recreation Management Inc
- The Leisure Institute of Western Australia (Aquatics) Inc (1999 - Current)
LIWA Aquatics celebrates its 50th year in 2019 of supporting its members in WA and "Maintaining the network" across the industry.
